No shit, Alistair (who is obviously trying to not upset his boss). You sound like a primary school teacher? Have you ever had a real job in a commercial environment?
You have to realise that being the Chancellor means that rather than telling us what everyone already knows, you’re supposed to tell us what you’re going to do about it.
(Update 2007-10-08: I had a look on Wikpedia and the Governments website at Alistair Darling’s profile. Just as I suspected, he’s a lawyer by trade and hasn’t actually worked in a competitive business environment. It’s not surprising that he doesn’t inspire confidence over running the economy.)
