I admire Harvey Goldsmith’s way of getting things done, but he has made an arse of this.
He must have already known that these tickets would be straight on eBay, yet he never bothered to put any system into place to stop the ballot winners selling their tickets at a profit.
Now he’s complaining that eBay will not ban selling them of and people are marking up their value.
If eBay ban selling of them, they’ll be sold on some other site that fans will find out about in minutes. I dislike the eBay monopoly as much as everyone else, but on this occasion, it’s not their fault.
If Goldsmith really wants just the ballot winners to see the gig, then he should have followed the route that Michael Eavis took in similar conditions for Glastonbury.
He should have installed a system where you have to prove who you are when you buy the ticket and then prove who you are when you walk through the gate.
Stop blaming others for a problem that you’re causing, Harvey!
(Yes, I did try to put my name into the ballot, but the web site was down, so no ticket for me.)
